Nicola, the managing director of an engineering company with 60 employees which services electrical equipment in Europe and the Middle-East, admits his past difficulties in dealing with multiple projects in different locations: “We have six teams constantly working on different projects, at least 15 at any given time, and I often struggled to keep track of who was doing what and their progress.”

“Every team leader had to prepare a daily report of activities and every single worker had to do a monthly report on what they have worked on”, Nicola explains, “but around 60% of them didn’t do it because it is really time consuming - and I never found time to read all of them anyway. In essence, we barely managed to prepare work progress reports for our clients.”

Nicola started using Mela in 2018 and it was a game changer: “With Mela, it is very easy to see the progress of each project and to keep track of the hours worked by each team”, Nicola acknowledges, “it takes only a few seconds to report how many resources were spent in each project. Now everybody is doing it. We share this information with our clients so we all have a better view of work status and resources.” This helped the company focus on the actual projects rather than on report preparation. Having everything in one place allows retrieving information at any later stage and gives everyone an opportunity to analyse what can be improved.
